Will the Bolt openings line up with the under carriage of a 2016 Volvo XC90. Is there any drilling etc… required? Thank you for your assistance.

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e53KR will require you to drill holes for mounting to your frame on your 2016 Volvo XC90. It will also require the enlargement of other existing holes to install the square bolt spacers.
For a no drill installation I recommend the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit # SH27FRT. The Stealth receiver allows you to remove either the 2" receiver or the ball mount for a cleaner look without the low hanging assembly like you get with other receivers. This kit also includes the wiring you need for a 7-way connector with the Volvo specific module. Some fascia trimming is required as you will find with any aftermarket receiver for your Volvo.
