Installing A Pioneer Platform On A Thule Xsporter Pro To Carry A Thule Basin Wedge Rooftop Tent

Question:

I have a Thule Xsporter Pro Mid over the bed of my Tacoma. I will primarily use the Xsporter to carry my Thule Basin Wedge rooftop tent. However, I would like to add some platform stability to the Xsporter with the Rhino rack, as well as some cargo carrying versatility when the rooftop tent is not on the Xsporter. If I put the Rhino rack on my Xsporter, will I be able to attach the Basin Wedge tent to the Rhino rack? The Thule Basin Wedge tent attaches directly to the Xsporter, but Im not sure how it would work with the Rhino rack because the Rhino bars appear to run perpendicular to the Xsporter cross bars. I do have an option for you if you want to use a Rhino-Rack Universal Pioneer Platform Rack for Crossbars - Aluminum - 58" Long x 47" Wide, part # RR42115BF, to carry a Thule Basin Wedge Rooftop Tent and Cargo Box - 2 Person - 600 lbs - Black and Olive Green, part # TH92VY. We have gotten this question before. The Rhino-Rack representative let us know there is not an attachment available to install a rooftop tent to a Pioneer Platform since most of these tents are designed to attach to crossbars. They indicated most of their customers drill directly into the Pioneer Platform to carry their rooftop tents. Unfortunately, this will void the warranty of the platform.
