How to Replace Tie Down Engineering LP7000 Actuator
Question:
I need to replace the Coupler and Actuator on a boat trailer. It has a LP7000 unit that is no longer available. I was able to acquire a replacement Master Cylinder Kit but my trailer guys are recommending I replace the coupler, solenoid and all the parts. I have pictures added that show the existing unit. I have found some recommendations on a Dexter unit that bolts over the top of the tongue but this tongue is too wide for those units. I need a replacment unit that will slide inside the tongue like the one shown in the pictures. Can you help me? Thanks for any advice you can provide.

I'm guessing it is approximately 3-3/8" across if you measured it. Unfortunately there are no options that will slide in because it won't line up correctly, and everything is designed to fit a 3" tongue so it is too wide to mount an actuator on top.
Although it is not ideal, the only solution is to cut that off and replace the tongue with a standard 3" trailer tongue. Once you have a 3" wide trailer tongue you will be able to install an actuator like the # DX89FR you were looking at.
