will the Yakima forklift roof mount bike racks attach securely directly to the factory cross bars? Is there a problem with the fixed position of the factory crossbars?

The Yakima ForkLift Roof Mount Bike Rack, # Y02098, will fit around the factory crossbars on your 2012 Subaru Outback. This bike rack fits crossbars up to 3-7/8 inches wide and 1-7/8 inches tall. Also, the fixed position of your crossbars on your roof should have no effect on the fit of this bike rack. The ForkLift will fit crossbar spreads from 16 inches to 42 inches. The crossbar spread is the distance from the center of your front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar.

If you would like to add locks to the bike rack, you can use the Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores, # Y07202.
