How To Carry 70 Lb E-Bike on 2005 Toyota Prius with 1-1/4" Hitch

Hello I have an 2005 Toyota Prius with a 1 1/4 hitch. I have a 70lbs ebike I’m looking for a bike rack, what do you recommend?

Expert Reply:
I do have option for you but this is too much weight for that size hitch on this vehicle. Therefore you can either reduce the weight of the bike to 66 lbs by removing the battery so you can use the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes part # Y96FR or you will be forced to change out the hitch to a 2", the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7196. The more cost effective route is the OnRamp but the better long term route is the EcoHitch.
