Kuat Bike Rack and Swing Away Extender Recommendations for 2021 Ford Bronco with Spare Tire
Question:
Hello. Im looking for a bike rake for my 2021 Ford Bronco, which has the Sasquatch Package from the factory, meaning I have a 35 spare tire on the back. Im looking for a hitch mounted bike rack that will be able to clear the spare tire, and ideally swing out of the way, so I can access the rear cargo area. I believe that Kuat has a swing out hitch extender will this work? Also, which Kuat bike rack would you recommend? It needs to be able to hold 2 electric bikes weighing 70 lbs each, with fat 5 tires. Ideally it needs to not wobble and be good on light off-road trails nothing crazy just a dirt road. Built in locks would be a bonus, but not a deal breaker. Thanks very much for your time! You guys have helped me in the past and are full of knowledge! Appreciate your time.

Thank you for all of the detailed information!
The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender # PVP20B is my absolute favorite solution for vehicles with a spare tire because it places the hitch pin hole the bike rack connects to 12-3/16" further back than the hitch pin hole on your 2021 Ford Bronco trailer hitch plus it swings out of the way enough that you can open up your back door for unrestricted access.
Then for the bike rack there are 2 potential options from Kuat; the NV 2.0 Base # BA22B (also available with the repair stand as upgraded part # NV22G) and the Piston Pro X # KU98VR. Both are excellent bike racks that you will be very happy with as they have integrated bike locks and fantastic anti-rattle system that secures then to the hitch receiver.
The NV 2.0 can handle 60 lb bikes and comes with standard straps for a 3" wide tire but that can be upgraded using the Phat Bike Adapter Kit # APBK (you'll need 1 per bike) so it can accommodate a 5" wide tire. You also have the option to get the Access Ramp # ANVBRB to make loading easier. If you remove the battery from your e-bikes and their weight drops down to 60 lbs this is what I recommend.
The Piston Pro X can handle up to 67 lb bikes and 5" wide tires right out of the box. This can also be upgraded with a ramp using the Loading Ramp # KU63VR. The Piston Pro X is the top of the line when it comes to ease of use and features but that's also reflected in the price point. If you remove your batteries and they don't drop the weight to 60 lbs then this is going to be your only option from Kuat that can safely be used.
I've attached some review videos for you to check out and see these bike racks in action.
