Recommended Winch For 2,500LB Boat and Trailer To Connect To 110V Power

my boat/trailer weigh is 2500lb and i am looking to use my 110v outlet to power a winch. I have been told that i can use a 12v dc winch by hooking up a large battery charger to my outlet and then hooking the charger to a 12 v winch. Is this correct? recommendation for winch. dont think i can use a DL25046 winch.

I recommend using the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Davit Winch w/ Remote # DL25032 for your boat trailer. This will allow you to connect directly to your 110volt power source as long as it is within 10' of the winch you will not need a extension cord. The plug also has its own GFCI built in to protect the wiring from faults caused by an arc since it will be near the water. It has a 10" wired controller to make it easier for you to operate. This winch has an average current draw of 6 amps with a 15 amp max draw.

This winch is very close to the Winch # DL25046 that you were not sure if you could use. It does not have the pulley which you do not need since you are not over the 2,700lb rating for the winch.

I do not recommend using the battery charger to operate a 12 volt winch. You can cause the charger to overload and having the multiple connections is not the best idea near a water source.
