Roof Top Bike Rack for Yakima Round Bar Roof Rack
Question:
I have a round bar roof Yakima Rack. I have a mt bike with a 110mm thru axle that I want to occasionally use on this rack so we can carry a third bike in addition to our hitch mount. I was thinking of using my older 9mm short tray yakima racks with an thru axle adapter. I did this back in the 90s but I remember a lot of play in the system. Instead, Im wondering about using thu axle mount and using those round bar adapters to make flat mount we used those to attach ski racks to round bars. Wondering if this possible or suggestions.

It sounds like you have a Yakima roof rack on your vehicle that has round crossbars. It also sounds like you have a Yakima rack similar to the Yakima HighSpeed Roof Bike Rack # Y02115. The Yakima HighSpeed Roof Bike Rack # Y02115 does work with round bars.
If you are worried about the play, we also have the Inno Tire Hold II Roof Bike Rack # INA389 which also works for round bars. It uses a dual wheel mount style that takes more play out of the rack.
I am not 100% sure what adapters you have to adapt your round bars to flat, so I am not sure about using those with a thru-axle mount. If you wanted to submit some pictures of your set-up, including the adapters then I would be happy to look further into this.
