Gooseneck Hitch Recommendation for 1996 Dodge Ram Pickup with 2" Gooseneck Shank Opening
Question:
I need a gooseneck ball with 2 inch shank smooth with pin hole . Must be 2 5/16 ball. 20 to 30 k . Why is this so hard to find my truck has 2 inch round receiver in bed for gooseneck ball.

You're having a hard time finding a replacement gooseneck ball for that gooseneck hitch on your 1996 Dodge Ram Pickup because it looks like you have a pretty old system and gooseneck hitch balls are hitch-specific - they aren't all the same like what we see with a bumper pull ball mount.
It doesn't look like we have anything that is compatible with the 2" receiver you have so my recommendation is to replace the whole thing with the Curt Double Lock, Flip and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch w/ Installation Kit # C60734 which is rated for 30K and comes with a removeable 2-5/16" hitch ball like what you're looking for. The shank on the hitch ball is larger than the hitch ball itself so it won't fit without the gooseneck assembly.
By getting a newer gooseneck hitch you are able to get a replacement hitch ball as part # C60616 easily if the need ever arises.
