How To Tell If Spindle Is Overloaded  

Question:

i have a forest river trailer that weighs 8800 lbs loaded. it has 3500 lbs axles and spindles. is the spindles overloaded with this factory design

It depends on how many axles you have. If you have two axles then yes it would be overloaded because that would be 7,000 pounds. If you have three axles you would be fine. Depending on what your bolt pattern is I would go up in axle capacity and put on a new axle like The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles # 8327816. Changing the spindle would not help.

The axle is 5,200 pounds and has an inner bearing # 25580 and an outer bearing # LM67048. The axle is 86-1/2 inches hub-face-to-hub-face and from spring-center-to-spring-center is 71-1/2 inches.

If you would measure your axle and find out what your inner and outer bearing numbers are I would be able to provide you with my details.
