Will a B and W Hitch on a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 8 Foot Bed also Fit a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 6 Foot Bed

Hello. I have a new BW gooseneck flip-over rail like this that i took out of a 1998 dodge ram 2500 with 8foot bed. I wish to put this item above on a 2010 dodge ram hemi 1500 with 6.3 bed. My question will it fit the newer truck?

The B and W Goosenck Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck hitch that you referenced # BWGNRK1394 is indeed a fit for the 1998 2500 Dodge Ram 2500 with an 8 foot bed, and was considered a fit for the 1994 - 2001 Dodge Rams with either a 6 foot bed or an 8 foot bed. It also fit the 2000-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 6 and 8 foot bed trucks. Unfortunately, this hitch is not confirmed as a fit for your 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 6 foot bed.

The correct B and W hitch for your 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 6 foot bed is the B and W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1309. This hitch is confirmed as a fit for the 2009 - 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks, and fits the 5-1/2 foot bed, 6 foot, and 8 foot bed configurations.

Since your 2010 Dodge Ram Truck is a 1500 series, you will need to check the towing capacity of it compared to the trailer(s) that you are going to be towing. Please make sure that the trailer(s) that you may be towing with your 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 are within the towing capacity limitations of the lowest rated component of your towing system, which could be your truck, hitch, or towing accessories. You should not exceed the lowest rated component of your towing system.

Also, depending on the trailer that you will be towing since you are going from an 8 foot bed to a 6 foot bed you need to be aware that the turning radius, and handling of your system may be different. You may be interested in a B and W Offset Trailer ball like the # BWGNXA4685. This offset trailer ball in an extender and moves the pivot point back 4 inches closer to the rear of your truck. Please note that this offset trailer ball is rated for a total weight capacity of 20,000 pounds.

I have included links to the parts referenced above, a short demonstration video, and a helpful article about gooseneck trailer hitches for your reference.
