5TH Wheel Hitches For a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed With Curt Rota-Flex Pin Box

Good afternoon. I have a 2016 Chevy 2500 Silverado Pickup truck with a 6.0L gas 2wheel drive crew cab short bed without OEM Prep or pucks. My 5th wheel trailer has the Curt Rota-Flex pin box. What 20k slider hitch would be recommended for this vehicle trailer combo. I was told that the Q20 would snap my pin on the rotaflex and that the A20 would be a better match. First I want to address some bad or misinterpreted information you received about the Curt Q-series 5th wheel hitches and your Rota-Flex Pin Box # LC328330. You can use the Q-Series with your Rota-Flex, the Q20 cannot be used with a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder # RP34FR as the pin box rotates where it attaches to the trailer and not where it attaches to the hitch. The reasoning for this is the Q-Series uses rubber cushions that give it the quieter ride.

The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16411-204 will give you the mounting points for the Curt 5th wheel hitch in the bed of your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Then you will be able to mount either the Q20 Slider # C16536 or the A20 Slider # C16541 in the 5th wheel rails.

If you do not like the idea of having the rails in your truck bed permanently or having to reposition the hitch every time you need to maneuver your trailer in tight spots the Underbed Rail and Installation Kit # DM8551010 is what you want. This is the most user friendly mount as the rails are under the bed and it allows you to use the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550037 that will slide the camper away from your cab as you turn. You will need the Demco Autoslide Capture Plates for Rota-Flex Pin Boxes # DM6171 to use this auto-sliding 5th wheel hitch. This is the best combination in my mind for your Silverado.
