Is The Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Worth The Investment?
Question:
Can you please tell me issues on the unit. I have read a lot about trouble hooking up. Taking so many tries, issues turning. We are looking at this unit but are concerned reading all the issues people have when they try to hook up.

The main issue most people have with connecting to a 5th wheel using the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch 18K # DM8550034 or 21K # DM8550035 is the hitch needs to be connected and disconnected in a straight line. This is necessary since the head of the Demco will slide to the forward straight position if pushed. Depending on where the 5th wheel trailer is parked this can often be difficult. Of the reviews we have received the largest complaint is the weight of the hitch. 277lbs for the 18K and 309 for the 21k. For those that only tow occasionally this can be an issue taking it in and out of the bed. Personally I feel the benefits of the auto slide outweigh these minor flaws. Not having to get out of your truck to reposition the hitch when you need to make a tight turn saves time and since you do not have to reposition the hitch you no longer have the risk of forgetting to adjust the hitch and your trailer hitting the cab of your truck.
