Can You Upgrade to 6K Axles on a Grand Design Reflection 5th Wheel 303RLS

Local tire shop told me I have a bent axel after I notice a lot of wear on one of the tire inside 2 inches I believe I have factory 5200 lbs axels. the GVW on the unit is just about 12,000 lb. Can I upgrade to a 6000 lb axel? What about springs, I do I know the rating on them

Yes, you can upgrade to 6,000 lb axles on your trailer but keep in mind that doesn't always mean you can carry more weight as you'll still be limited to the weakest rated component. In order to choose the correct replacement axle you'll need to measure the hub face (center of hub face to center of hub face) and spring center (center of spring center to center of spring center). This will then give you the info needed to pick out the correct replacement axle for your trailer. I have also attached a video I did to help others with this same thing so be sure to give that a watch.

The Dexter Trailer Axle with Electric Brakes part # 7461121-EB for example is a 6,000 lb axle which measures measures 95" long at the hub face and 80" at the spring center though these can be moved. I have attached a full list of all our other axles you can choose from once you have the info above.

The leaf springs will need to be upgraded as well for if you want to make the trailer more capable of carrying heavier loads. In order to find the correct replacement leaf springs you'll need to measure their unloaded length via jacking up the trailer. If the springs are worn they will measure longer than their replacement. The number of leaves does not really denote capacity as leaves have different thicknesses. Once you have all this info you can choose the correct replacement from the list below. The springs should be replaced in pairs as well. The 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles part # e34SR is a pretty common replacement measuring 25-1/4".
