Question:
Hello, I have a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and towing a small Scamp trailer. I currently have a 4-pin connector that controls the lights but would like to install a 7-pin one to also leverage the brakes from the trailer as well as charging its battery. I'm having a hard time finding what I need for my car, could you help? Thanks.

You can add a 7-Way to your 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as long as you have a 12V battery somewhere. If you aren't sure, I recommend asking your local dealer if you have a 12V auxiliary since the main PHEV battery appears to be 300V. Assuming you do, you can use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7L.
This kit comes with the adapter, wiring, and everything else you need to upgrade your existing 4-way to a 7-way. For a brake controller, you can use the Curt Echo # C51180 which plugs in-line with your 7-way at the back of the vehicle. The Echo is controlled via Bluetooth through the app on your phone. This eliminates the need to run an additional brake output wire up to the cab of the vehicle since you likely have additional wiring running throughout the PHEV model.
