Does the Electric Jack with Footplate Need a Ground to Function

Question:

I have a 2007 Silverado LTZ Z71. I purchased this for my tandem axle cargo trailer. When I plug it into my 7 pin connector on the truck, I get nothing. I have yet to j stall it because I want to make sure it works before going through the work of installing. Correct me if I am wrong, but since that unit is powered through the 7 pin connector, I shouldn’t have to install it in order for it to ground the 7 pin takes care of that?!?! And if I am right, what could be the issue. My fuses under the hood are good, the fuse on the jack is good.

The Electric Jack with Footplate part # EJ-3520-BBX only has one wire which is for power. There is no ground wire as it uses the mounting plate for the ground. Therefore, in order for the jack to work properly you'll need it mounted to the frame as well as hooked up to the battery for power. It will not ground through the trailer connector.
