2012 Nissan Frontier Truck Bed Bike Rack Recommendation to Fit 12x100 and 12x142 Thru-Axle Bikes

Question:

Do you have a truck bed rack with pre-mounted through axle fork mounts? Most seem to be made for skewers which is silly since 80 of all bikes sold have disc brakes and through axles. I drive a 2012 Nissan Frontier, double cab, so a bike won’t fit in the bed without removing the front wheel. My through axel is 12x100 and 12x 142 on another bike. Alternatively, like the Thule Insta Gator, but Iwould have to fasten via the rear wheel and turn the front wheel hard to the side or remove the front wheel and pad the fork and let it rest on the truck bed. Drilling through the truck bed to fasten a fork Mount is possible, but a little extreme. Do you have suggestions?

Thanks for reaching out!

For your application I recommend checking out the Swagman Patrol 2 Bike Rack for Truck Beds # S64701 and utilizing a 12mm adapter like part # S64718. The Patrol uses a clamping system to secure to your truck bed and is compatible with thru-axle bikes. The adapter is meant for 12x100 axles which will work for both of your bikes but you'll have to find a way to keep your 12x142 axle from sliding back and forth since I'm not seeing any adapters designed specifically for that 142 span.

The Patrol is meant for a 2012 Nissan Frontier that doesn't have the Utili-Track system. If you happen to have that system then you can use the Swagman Impakt Bike Rack # S62FR instead with the same adapter mentioned above. The Impakt comes with mounting hardware to secure this directly to the track system in your truck bed so it fits seamlessly with your setup.
