Will The Reese Dual Cam II Brackets Work W/ An Older Reese Strait-Line WDS?
Question:
Hi, I have an older weight distributing hitch 2008 Avalanche used to pull a 2008 Jayco Jay Feather Sport 218. GVW for the camper is 4500 pounds. It appears to be a Reese or a Curt with straight torsion bars. I plan on using Reese Dual Cam HP #26002. I do know that I can replace the bars with # RP22225 torsion bars as the measurements for the trunnion bars will fit my hitch perfectly. My question has more to do with the snap up brackets than the bars. The brackets are different than what is used now but I am pretty sure that they will work fine with the dual cam kit , however I wanted to confirm this with you folks. I see that folks who are unable to use the snap up brackets just use # RP58305 which are nothing more than a hook placed on the side of the trailer tongue. Also find attached pics of the snap up brackets that are on my trailer tongue and the hitch or shank that is on my truck. What do you think? Am I on the right track? Thanks for your assistance,

We have two different brackets for our dual cam compatible weight distributions systems:
-Strait-Line system with snap up brackets and chains with a separate dual cam system.
-Strait-Line system with Dual Cam II with brackets with an integrated dual cam system.
The snap up brackets (# RP21501) can still be purchased, or as the you suggested you can use the alternative chain hangers (# RP58305). Both of which are compatible with the dual cam HP (# RP26002). Both options require drill installation.
For a 800 lbs GTW the Replacement Trunnion Spring Bar For Reese Weight Distribution System # RP22225 is the correct replacement trunnion bar.
The new dual cam II system is integrated into the brackets, making it an ‘all in one’ system. This is a no-drill assembly.
