Spindle, Brake, and Hub/Drum Assembly Recommendations for a 6,000 lb GVWR Ice Fishing House

Hello. I’m planning on building my own ice fishing house. 8’x16’ with drop down axles on each side. My question is which hub, brake and spindle set up would you suggest? I’m thinking it will be 6000lb gvwr. I will have to fabricate the swing arms that the spindle will be welding to but I’d like to purchase everything thing else from you. Thanks

Thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like you're wanting to make 1 drop-down axle system for your ice fishing house so you'll want to use the EZ Lube Spindle # TRU37FR which is rated for a 5,200 lb axle. This means if you're able to beef up the other parts of your suspension build to match a 5,200 lb weight rating that you'll only be relying on about 800 lbs for the tongue weight.

Then for brakes I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-D because running an electrical brake system is quicker and easier to maintain than a hydraulic system, and the Dacromet finish will help it last a long time especially when exposed to the water. This pairs up nicely with the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. We don't have any hub and drum assemblies with the Dacromet finish but this comes pre-greased and with the EZ-Lube grease cap that matches the spindle mentioned above.

I'm not sure how far you are into your build but I'm attaching some videos as well as helpful articles you can reference as well!
