I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box # e99011 when upgrading from a 6 to a 7-way connector. This will make changing the wiring easier and provide you a place to attach a wire for the trailer brakes. This will also make installing a Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308 easier which you will also likely need if you do not already have a breakaway battery.
We have the Blue 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 you can use to run for your trailer brakes.
