Hitch Pin Hole to Bumper Distance for Curt Hitch # C13068 Installed on 2007 Honda Odyssey

2007 Honda Odyssey Hello, For the 2007 I could not find any information regarding the hitch pinhole distance to the back bumper. In addition, how does this hitch compare to the hidden hitch? Is there an advantage/disadvantage to having the ends of the hitch tube open hidden hitch or closed. I think this hitch looks better with the ends closed. Thanks for your time,

The exact position of the hitch pin hole on Curt Class III 2-inch hitch receiver # C13068 when installed on a Honda Odyssey will vary among various model years. Your 2007 is the same (3rd) generation as the 2010 vehicle shown in the linked video and so should share the 4-1/4-inch hitch pin hole to bumper distance.

However, I did also go to our warehouse to take a measurement of this hitch that will allow you to approximate the position of the hitch pin hole on your vehicle once the Curt hitch is installed. If you refer to the linked photo of the hitch you will see two red arrows indicating the location of the two ends of the hitch pin hole. Next note the yellow line connecting the two rear-most mounting bracket holes. The distance from the hitch pin hole to this line is 8 inches; this measure is indicated by the yellow arrow.

If you check the underside of your Odyssey frame in the rear of the vehicle where the hitch will attach you will find the mounting holes in the bottom surfaces of the two frame rails. Locate the rear-most hole on either side of the frame (the linked video will help you with this). From the center of this hole measure back 8 inches toward the rear of the vehicle. This is approximately where the hitch pin hole will be once this Curt hitch is mounted on your car.

Curt hitch # C13068 has closed ends on the main tube (circular steel caps are welded in place). Some consider it an advantage to have a closed main tube in that this feature can help reduce entry of water and dirt that might otherwise eventually lead to some potential corrosion. Others argue that an open tube allows for faster evaporation of any moisture that does find its way in. The Hidden Hitch 87479 has the same capacities as the Curt but has open ends on the main cross tube. Since both offer essentially the same performance and both carry a limited lifetime warranty you can certainly make your choice based on your preferred appearance.

If you will be using the hitch for a bike carrier you can review the link provided to see all compatible Class III bike carriers that will fit this 2-inch hitch; filters at the left margin will allow you to narrow the product results to just those with the features you prefer. For example, you can choose between platform and hanging carriers, ones that include locks or ones that do not and racks that tilt or swing away for better vehicle access. Note that the combined weight of your bikes and carrier cannot exceed the 350-lb tongue weight rating of the hitch.

If you plan to tow a trailer, you will need a wiring harness for the trailer lights, and a ball mount, hitch ball of the same size as your trailer coupler and a hitch pin or lock. For example, we offer a complete ball mount kit, part # 989900. If towing is in your plans please let me know what size trailer coupler you have (1-7/8-inches or 2-inches) and I will be glad to recommend the necessary items. Please note that most versions of the 2007 Odyssey have a 3500-lb towing capacity; your owners manual or your local dealership will provide confirmation of the towing capacity for your particular vehicle.
