Fit of Swagman Semi 2.0 Bike Rack on 2005 Volvo V70

Will the Swagman S64686 fit my 2005 Volvo V70?

To determine how well or even if a given bike rack will work with a specific vehicle, you will need to take a measurement from the hitch pin hole in the receiver rearward to the furthest point of the rear bumper, as shown in the article I have linked you to.

You would then compare that measurement to the hitch pin hole to closest portion of the bike rack dimension shown on the product description page for each bike rack. The Swagman Semi 2.0 you referred to needs at least 12 inches of clearance to install, and 3 inches of clearance to be able to fold up against the rear of the vehicle for storage.

When we installed a hitch on a 2005 Volvo V70, we found that 5-1/2 inches was needed to clear the bumper. If this is the case with your hitch, the Swagman Semi 2.0 would install, but would NOT have enough clearance to fold up against the rear of the vehicle.

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, part # HR1000Z would provide plenty of clearance, at 11 inches so that would be my recommendation. In addition to being able to fold up against the rear of the vehicle for storage, the rack can tilt rearward away from the vehicle with the bikes in place to allow easier access to the cargo area.

Hi Rich- I'm confused- you said that the Swagman Semi 2.0 wouldn't be able to fold up on the Volvo's 5-1/2" clearance bumper, but on the Swagman's product page it says the distance from hitch pin to closest part of carrier folded up is 8". So according to the product page it would fit his Volvo. Is this correct?

Sorry you are correct, the Swagman Semi 2.0 # S64686 would work just fine on the Volvo. There won't be any bumper interference both with it down for use and folded up for storage.
