Air Lift Kit to Fit with Reese 5th Wheel Brackets Installed on a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Question:

I have a 2008 F-250 Super duty 4X4 with 6.4L and I purchased a Reese Draw tight 5th wheel brackets #50082. I also purchased Air Lift 5000 # 57212. After installing the Reese brackets, it doesnt appear as though the Air Lift Brackets are compatible with the Reese brackets. Even prior to installing the Reese brackets the Air Lift mount for the truck frame didnt have the correct bolt hole patterns. Could you please recommend the correct Air Lift or other brand that is compatible with the Reese Brackets? Thank you

The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57212 are designed to fit your 2008 Ford F-250 but when it comes to compatibility with 5th wheel/gooseneck mounting brackets, it only fits with the Reese universal mounting brackets.

The Reese Kit # RP50082-58 you installed uses custom mounting brackets, which are better, so instead you'll need to use the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57398. There are instructions on page 6 for this Air Lift kit that specifically address installing it with a 5th wheel bracket kit on the vehicle.

I typically like to recommend (or at least bring attention to) an air compressor kit whenever someone is looking into 5th wheel towing with air bags. For your application I recommend the Air Command I Xtreme Duty Compressor # F2543 which is a compressor that comes with a 1-Gallon tank and accessory fitment. This means you'll be able to monitor and adjust your air bags on the fly, plus the tank means you can manage any toys or tools that require air while you're at the campsite (bikes, sports balls, blow up mattress, etc.). To make this a no-drill install we have the kit # F2530 as well.
