A supplemental automatic transmission cooler is recommended for towing or even for normal driving. Since transmission fluid cannot be overcooled, adding a cooler is a simple way to help prolong the life of the transmission. I recommend the Derale cooler # D13503 for your 2005 Nissan Titan. It is the most popular cooler for your truck.
The best place to put it is behind the grille, in front of the AC condenser and radiator. That is where it will work the best. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you. Please note that you do not have to remove the front clip of the vehicle for installation. We do that for videos so it is easier for you to see what is going on.
