Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2013 Ram 2500 Mega Cab

Question:

I have 2013 Ram Mega Cab 4x4 with the 6.4 bed. I am looking at converting a fifth wheel to a bandw gooseneck ball hitch. Can CAB-C5GX1216 be used in conjuction with the B and W 4 inch gooseneck extender to increase cab to camper clearance?

Since the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216 that you referenced does not move the pivot point further back you really do not gain much clearance for tight turns with a short bed truck. Also, if you use an offset adapter like this you can not use an additional offset adapter like the B and W extender you referenced. This would cause too much leverage on the trailer.

Do you have a hitch in the bed of your truck? If not I would recommend you install a fifth wheel hitch and rails and not use the adapter at all. For that I would recommend the B and W Companion Slider Hitch and Rail kit part numbers # BWRVK3400-5W # BWGNRK1308-5W.
