This spare tire mount specifies 12-14inch tires. Why wont it work on a 15inch spare tire?

The Dutton-Lainson Offset Trailer Spare Tire Carrier # DL22120 is indeed designed for wheel sizes of 9- to 14-inches. It is not recommended for 15-inch tires due to the reduced ground clearance from mounting this large a tire on a typical-height trailer.
We do offer the Fulton Hi-Mount Spare Tire Carrier, part # FSTC1000301, that fits trailer frames up to 3-inches wide and 4-inches high and works with 4-on-4 and 5-on-4-1/2 wheel bolt patterns.
