There are several different types of adapters offered that will allow a gooseneck-equipped truck to pull a 5th wheel trailer such as your 16,250-lb GVWR Heartland Key Largo. These vary in their cost, level of safety, ride quality and the amount of stress they will place on the trailer frame.

The linked article provides detailed information about the pros and cons of each type. Your best option may come down to how often you will tow your 5th wheel with your goose neck hitch.

Please note that some trailer manufacturers may not recommend use of certain types of these adapters so it is recommended that you refer to your trailer owners manual or consult with your dealer before making a selection.

The most desirable option is a 5th wheel adapter that replaces your standard 5th wheel pin box. These do not stress your trailer frame or your hitch and are the safest type of adapter. I have included a link to our main page for such items where you can use your existing pin box part number to check availability of a suitable replacement.

We also offer the Andersen Trailer Coupler # AM3100 that provides do-it-yourself installation as well as adjustable height. This unit can be used with pin boxes up to 24-inches in length. Safety chains, part # AM3109, are offered separately.
