Tow Package For A 3000 lb Boat Trailer On A 2015 BMW X5 28s
Question:
What tow package should I order for my 2015 X5 28s? I will be towing a 3000lb boat and trailer. Also, do you have or can you refer me to installation service? Thanks!

For your 2015 BMW X5 28s I recommend the etrailer class 3 round tube trailer hitch # e84AR. I like our etrailer hitches a lot. They are virtually identical to the Curt brand hitches, but are priced slightly lower. Who doesn't like saving money? The etrailer brand hitches have a matte black coating while the curt brand is a glossy black finish. This hitch is rated for 6000 lbs towing and 600 tongue weight and will be plenty strong for your 3000 lb boat and trailer. With that I also recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. This comes with everything you will need to hitch up your trailer including a carrying case.
For your wiring I recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter Kit with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56190KIT. This will power your brake lights, tail lights and turn signals.
If the trailer has surge brakes you can use the 5 way flat adapter kit # C57187. This will add on a reverse light wire and allow for use of a surge brake actuator. This would only be needed if the trailer has a 5-flat connector.
If your trailer has electric brakes with a 7-way connector, you will need the universal install kit # ETBC7. This kit comes with everything you need to upgrade the 4-pin connection to a 7 way. You would also need a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.
I have included links to a few install videos below as well as some other information you might find useful.
