Question:
I am thinking about doing electric over hydraulic brakes for my boat trailer. The surge brakes work ‘ok’ but in the winding hills of TN they are always on as I weave around down to the lake and hubs are hot. The trailer is a tandem axle with brakes on both axles. The axles are 3500lbs each. Any recommendations on hardware to make this happen?

I recommend using either of our Hydrastar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuators. We have a kit for Drum # HS481-8065 or Disc # HS481-8067 brakes. Both of these kits use plug and play connectors for the breakaway battery, trailer disconnect, and brake controller module. As your trailer likely only has a 4-way you can use the Adapter # HM47365 to make the trailer connector plug and play.
If you can provide me information on your surge coupler I can help you find a replacement Coupler # DM15000-52 so you do not have to worry about it falling apart over time.
