Would Could Fix Excess Coupler Play with Demco EZ Latch Coupler
Question:
I have a featherlite car trailer 3182-0020-STD. Im experiencing clanking/rattling from what looks like excessive play @ the coupler. I have attached a picture of my demco coupler. My coupler has 6 mounting holes on each side and the locking pin gets ed much higher then the DM16680-52. Interesting enough the 8th question down in this thread has a picture of my coupler. Is DM16680-52 a replacement for my coupler or do you have a better suggestion for me? Also do I reuse the mounting bolts? Is there a torque spec for the bolts?

The play you are feeling/hearing is most likely between the hitch ball and the latch of the coupler. If you look under the coupler you can see an adjustment bolt that uses an Allen wrench that will allow you to tighten the latch and get rid of the excess movement.
Now that said, the part # D16680-52 is the correct replacement for what you have currently.
