Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500

Hello, I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado HD. New to fifth wheel towing. Can you point me in the right direction with some hitch packages I guess I get confused when I see your products for my vehicle and it asks me if I have the prep package or not. Im not sure what that is or if I need it. Can you assist?

I would be happy to help you. There are two big differences in options for towing a 5th wheel trailer with your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500. The first and easiest would be if you have the prep package. What that is is a from the factory option that puts four holes in the bed of your Silverado for mounting a 5th wheel hitch (See picture below). This is a factory option only and there is no way to add this with aftermarket parts.

With this system on your truck you have two options to install a 5th wheel hitch. If you have an 8 foot bed or a rotating pin box you would need a standard hitch like the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3710.

If your Silverado has the shorter 6-3/4" bed you will most likely need a slider hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider item # BWRVK3775. This hitch gives you extra clearance when you are making tight turns so you don't smash the back of your cab.

The second way to install a 5th wheel hitch is to use a set of industry standard rails that sit in the bed of your truck and have brackets that bolt into your frame (see picture below). To add a set of these to your Silverado you would need the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC Truck item # C16429-204.

These rails give you a platform to again install either a sliding hitch or a standard 5th wheel hitch. I have listed both options below:
