Recommended Quick Connects for a Winch Being Installed on a Boat
Question:
putting a 2500 lb winch on a boat, recommended min 6 AWG cable as the 2500 lb winch rated up to 150amps at max pull. your winch cable quick disconnect plug for 6awg wire is rated 50amps, will the 50amp plug be sufficient or should I look at a higher amp rated plug?

Since the quick connects are only rated to 50 amps I'd beef up your cables to cover your 150 amp max pull rating. The 6 AWG is a minimum so you can go bigger, luckily. I'd steer towards something like the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20207 or for just the quick connects # BDW20133.
This kit/connectors are going to work with 2 AWG wire which is larger, however they are rated for up to 175 Amps so you'll have your coverage.
