Will Kuat Pivot Hitch Adapter # PVP20B Allow Rear Door of Jeep Wrangler to Open

Question:

I have a jeep Wrangler and the spare tire is mounted on the back and it swings to the passenger side. Do you know if the swing rack you sell will go far enough on the passenger side so you can open the tailgate? Do they make a swinging rack that will swing toward the drivers side?

We had the chance to install the Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Extender part # PVP20B on a Jeep Wrangler and we found that with it swung out the rear door was able to open like you asked about. You can see more on the attached review video link on this page. We also have a version of the adapter that swings the opposite direction with the part # PVD20B. Generally people prefer the version that swings to the passenger side because if you were to need to pull over on highway you most likely would pull over to the right and the rack would swing out to the shoulder side and not the traffic side.
