Should The Skid Pads On Curt CrossWing Move Between The Mounting Plates?

Question:

I have a 2019 F350 DRW. Ive noticed the white pad thats between the bed rails and the hitch is slipping out from under the hitch after driving down the highway. I follow all torque specs. Anyone else reporting that issue? The pad on the back rail is slipping out and the one on the front isnt moving at all. Do I need to torque the coupler down tighter than 100 pounds?

Helpful Expert Reply:

It is normal for the Skid Pads # C38FV to move around between the plates on the Curt CrossWing # C92DR. The notches is the plate prevent the pads from falling out and help to allow the hitch to move around inside the bed and quiet noise.

Do note that the pads are a sacrificial material and will need to be replaced over time as they will wear and can break.
