Should the heat shield be installed under the hitch, cut back or removed on 2014 forester?

When you install the Curt Hitch part # C13144 on a 2014 Subaru Forester like yours you will need to permanently remove the heat shield. Check out the installation instructions I attached for more detail on how this is done.
