5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for a Reese Hitch on a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Long Bed

I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 8ft box, hemi engine, No Overload Springs. I have a used Reese 30047 5th wheel hitch with a 30048 Quick slide. I believe they call that combination a 30051 but I am not sure. The rail is a 10 bolt. The Hitch and rails are in great condition I am aware that I do not need the slider because of the 8ft box. But I do not have the legs so I might as well install the slider. Now that the background is finished. I am looking for the best option for installation kit for the hitch. I have looked at the 50040 and the 50140. I have also looked at the Curt rail and custom kit C16420. Looks like I could get a new curt kit and rail for the price of the Reese kit. Can you recommend the best option for this kit?

For your 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 I recommend going ahead and getting a complete new kit, # C16420-204. The reason for this is that you should not mix rails and brackets from 2 manufacturers because the capacity will be unknown, and because you would likely need new hardware anyway to install the rails you do have to the new brackets since the hardware is meant for one time installation.

I have included a link to a video showing installation of the Curt kit and its instructions.

You can use the slider on the long bed. You just might not have to slide it back is all. Otherwise its perfectly fine to use a slider with a long bed truck.
