Yes, you can convert the factory 4-way trailer connector to a 7-way connector on your 2008 Ford Expedition. To add the 7-way connector, you will want a 4-way to 7-way adapter, like part # 37185. You may also need another 5ft or 6ft of 10 gauge wire, # 10-1-1. Your Expedition will already have the electric brake and 12 volt power wires ran to the back of the vehicle along the drivers side frame rail. If the 12 volt power wire is not hot, then you may also need a relay and a 30-amp fuse from a local auto parts store or Ford dealer to activate the 12 volt battery power circuit.
I have attached an installation video on a 2004 Ford Expedition for you to check out. The Expedition in the video is slightly older than your Expedition, but the installation process will be the same. I have also attached a help article on installing a brake controller on a full size Ford SUV for you to reference.
To actuate the electric brakes on your horse trailer, you will also need a brake controller if you do not already have one. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885. This is one of the most popular brake controllers on the market. Your Expedition will have a factory brake controller connector under the dash just below the steering column. To use the factory wiring, you will also want the Custom Wiring Adapter, # 3035-P. I have attached an installation video for the brake controller and wiring adapter for you to check out as well.
