How Many Bolt Holes Should Dexter Coupler Actuator DX89FR Use to Install
Question:
Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2inch Ball - Zinc - 7.5K I need to replace my brake actuator. I would like buy this one because I like that it has both electric and manual reverse lockouts. I have attached pictures of the existing actuator on my trailer. It has a 3” od square tongue. It is attached by two bolts. It looks to me like this actuator will work and attach to the tongue the same way. I just want to check with you and confirm before I buy. It shows three mounting holes instead of the two on my existing actuator. Should I drill another hole in the tongue for the third bolt or just use two bolts? If two bolts is enough, which mounting hole should I leave open, the front hole or rearward hole? This is for single 3500 lb. axle trailer.

If you don't mind drilling Jeremy I would recommend using all three mounting holes of the Dexter Actuator part # DX89FR or if you know a welder just have them weld it to the trailer.
If you were going to only use two though use whichever two line up best with the coupler slid as far onto the trailer frame as possible if that makes sense. That would put the least amount of leverage on the coupler.
