What Is The Purpose Of Running A Wire To The Battery For The Curt T-Connector # C56327
Question:
I recently installed the C56327 T-Connector on my 2022 Ford Transit. Super easy to install although the green wire that runs over to the passenger side could have been about 6-12inch longer!. I was puzzled to see it required a wire to be run to the battery. I might expect this on a 7-pin connector, but since this only powers the trailers lights I would have thought plenty of power would be supplied via the inline connections inside the tailight. What is the purpose of requiring a line to the battery?

Hey Mike thanks for your question. The T-Connectors, like the Curt # C56327 you mentioned require a line to be run to the battery to power the converter. The converter basically serves to protect the wiring on your vehicle. It is circuit-protected, and battery powered which allows for virtually zero draw on the vehicles tail light circuits. We get this question quite a bit regarding the powered converters and the answer is universally, yes, running a wire to the battery is required, even though it is just a 4-flat connector.
