Why Did Demco Autoslide 5TH Wheel Hitch Move Back When Connected To Lippert Rhino Pin Box?
Question:
My Demco 21K Autoslide hitch slides back and forth with no regard to turning. It slammed back the full length of the slide while backing straight back. When it slammed to the back of the slide, the head turned sideways. Hours to get it disconnected from the truck. Non-functional and a very dangerous hitch at this point. Any adice other than using it as a very expensive boat anchor would be appreciated. The hitch has been used 3 times.

I do see your Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550035 is missing the Capture Plate # DM14743-95 and other components on the Head # DM6081. And as you have a Rhino pin box you need the Locking Plate # DM76FR as well to prevent the Demco from turning unless the trailer is turning. Since you don't have either of the parts on the head this is why your hitch slid back the way it did.
