Because of the way the CR-V hatch is constructed, the upper straps of the Yakima KingJoe Pro would need to hook to the glass at the top of the hatch, Yakima says that only two bikes can be carried on a rack installed on that vehicle, even if it has a 3 bike capacity. The weight applied to the hatch by the extra bike can damage the vehicle.

The good news is that Hollywood Racks offers their Over the Top 3 bike model, part # HRF2-3 that would allow you to carry three bikes. The rack has a unique design that spreads the weight of the rack and the bikes over a larger area of the hatch, rather than having all the weight hanging from the top of the hatch. The rack will handle the boy's and a men's bike just fine, but most women's bikes and bikes with sharply angled top tubes do best with a frame adapter like part # HRBA-PRO. The adapter bar spans the distance between the seat post and the handlebar gooseneck, providing a level attachment point for the bike rack. Since the bike won't be carried at an angle, you'll have better ground clearance as well.
