Is There A Way To Haul Two 75lb E-Bikes With A 2015 Volkswagen Beetle
Question:
I have a 2015 VW Beetle Convertible. I would like to carry 2 e-bikes that are 75 pounds each. 5 inch tires Can you recommend a setup that would work? A local business hitch house told me that its impossible for me to carry 2 e-bikes with my car. Im hoping theres a solution. Thanks.

Hey George,
Because the only hitch size available for your Beetle is 1-1/4" the only way you'd be able to haul your e-bikes would be if you towed them on a small trailer. The bike racks capable of hauling 75lb bikes would require a 2" trailer hitch receiver. You'd need to install a hitch like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24922, find a small trailer, and then measure for the correct rise ball mount to keep the trailer level while towing. You'll also need to install a wire harness # C56380 to transfer your light signals to the trailer tail lights.
We offer a small variety of mounts to secure your bikes to the trailer so they won't slide around and get scratched up. If this is something you want to do we can figure out what is going to work best once you have a trailer.
