Troubleshooting Fan Blades Not Turning on MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent
Question:
Hello, I have the Maxx Air Fan Deluxe 00-007500K. It has been working fine for 2 years but now when I open the cover the fan blades do not turn on their own. If I take off the screen and give them a little push they will start. Is this a problem with the motor or the circuit board?

Hi Deborah; the motor on your # MA00-07500K could be wearing out in which case you can replace it with the # MA10-20968. I wouldn't say it is the circuit board since it is sending the signal for the motor to work it is just failing to start up and move the fan blades without some help.
Before you replace it I would make sure it is getting full 12V power. I would also see about cleaning it. Just like a regular fan, if it has some dirt or debris up in there it might be stuck and not have the required force to start up which would explain why giving it a little push gets it going. You will already be taking it apart to replace the motor so it would be worth pulling it and cleaning it off to see if it works before you spend the money.

Disregard my last question as I have solved the problem! Thanks to your suggestions I took off the fan blades and looked up into the stem of the motor and there was hair wrapped around it. After removing it and cleaning it’s back to its normal operation. Thank you so much!!

Thank you Robin for your immediate response to my question. Are you talking about cleaning the motor or the fan blades themselves? I just recently took the fan blade assembly off and cleaned it. Thanks!
