Recommended Weight Distribution System For 1200 To 1500 LBs Tongue Weight Capacity

Question:

Ive pretty much decided on the reese straight line with dual cams and 1200lb trunnion bars. My concern is that I want to be sure I get the right model number so at a later time I could upgrade to the 1500lb bars. Im sure that I read on here somewhere that some of the older models are not compatible with the new bars. Can you tell me the correct model numbers I should be looking for? Thanks

The best thing for you to do is to use a system like the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution, part # RP66075. This system handles tongue weight from 1000 lbs to 1700 lbs. This would work for you because you would not need to worry about upgrading at a later date and making sure the system matches. Any system 1,500 lbs and higher will require a 2-1/2 inch receiver.

To make sure everything is level i recommend the Reese Titan Weight Dist Shank, part # RP54977. This shank is designed for a trunnion system only, and features a 5-3/4 in drop and an 8-1/4 inch rise.

I have attached a helpful article about weight distribution and a product review video for the shank you can check out.
