How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2005 Honda Pilot with 2 Broken Weldnuts in the Frame

I have a Honda Pilot 2005. I purchased a Curt 13328 and have at least two broken weld nuts. Will the replacement hardware kit item #RHK come with the spacers item RP3022 and how many? What grade carriage bolts will be supplied?

When using replacement hardware kit # RHK you would get the same hardware that originally came with the kit (some specialty pieces may not be included). Since you have broken weldnuts the only thing you can do is use a block and carriage bolt, drop them down through the frame using the fishwire technique and then use a nut to secure the hitch to that bolt. This is assuming you do not want to go through the trouble or expense of having new weldnuts professionally installed in the frame.

If you do this you will need bolts that are grade 5 or better, the same size as originally included with the hitch and a matching nut. The blocks will have to be the proper size to get wedged inside the frame and have the right opening to hold the carriage bolt in place.

For example the bolt associated with block # RP3022 is compatible with 1/2 inch carriage bolt, nut # 55178, and conical tooth washer # 01292-008. A 1/2 inch bolt is a little larger than the 12mm bolts included with the hitch # 13328 originally but is likely still going to work fine. I have linked a help article that has a section on fish wiring. You would need a 1/2 inch fishwire, # 80101-1.
