Parts Needed to Add Hydraulic Disc Brakes to Pontoon Boat Trailer
Question:
What surge brake actuator and brake line kit would I need to go with this disc brake assembly? Also, any other parts I would need to take my pontoon trailer from no brakes to brakes? Kodiak Disc Brakes - 8 Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet - 3,500 lbs - E-Z Lube Part Number: KOD87FR

Hi Adam; the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR you were looking at is a great option to pair with the # KOD87FR. This fits a 3" wide trailer tongue so you will need to make sure that is what you have. This will also require adding a 5-way to the trailer and your vehicle to use the electric lockout.
On the vehicle side you can use the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter - 4-Way Flat to 5-Way Flat # C57187. If you already have a 7-way on your vehicle then you could use the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style to 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector Adapter # A10-7275VP instead. On the trailer side you can use the # HM47900.
For brake lines it depends on how many axles you have. If this is a single axle trailer you can use a kit like the # 18SI-BLKIT. If it is a tandem axle trailer we have the # 20TA-BLKIT.
The only other thing you need to check on is a brake flange. If you don't have a 4-bolt brake flange you won't be able to mount the disc brakes. Based on the brakes I'll assume this is a 3,500 lb axle that is 2-3/8" in dimeter. If that is correct, you can add them using the # 4-35. This is something you will need to take to an axle shop to have installed.
