How to Measure Travel Trailer For etrailer Travel Trailer Cover Fit

Question:

For the etrailer covers for the travel trailers, can you please tell me how to measure for the right fit? Does the AC matter? Wanna be sure I get the correct cover. Thanks!

Hey Doug,

That's a good question because fit is really important so the cover stays snug on your trailer, and there is a specific way to measure for the etrailer covers. It's pretty simple, and what you want to do is measure the body of the travel trailer to the furthest point rearward, though keep a few things in mind.

1) Don't measure the trailer tongue because the cover won't be going over it.
2) The furthest point rearward does include your bumper and/or spare tire if you have those.
3) If you have an AC unit, add an extra foot to the measurement to account for it.

Let's give an example. You have a travel trailer with a spare tire and an AC unit. The body of the travel trailer measures exactly 20 feet, but the spare tire extends 18 inches (1-1/2 feet) past that, and the AC counts for another foot. So even though the body of your travel trailer is 20 feet, the spare tire and AC count for another 2-1/2 feet for a total of 22-1/2 feet, meaning you'd need the etrailer 22'-24' Travel Trailer Cover # e57VV.

Here's all the lengths for when you find the right measurement.

- 18 Feet - 20 Feet: etrailer Travel Trailer Cover # e84VV

- 20 Feet - 22 Feet: etrailer Travel Trailer Cover # e24VV

- 22 Feet - 24 Feet: etrailer Travel Trailer Cover # e57VV

- 24 Feet - 27 Feet: etrailer Travel Trailer Cover # e37VV

- 27 Feet - 30 Feet: etrailer Travel Trailer Cover # e97VV

- 30 Feet - 33 Feet: etrailer Travel Trailer Cover # e47VV
