Will Air Bags Effect Onboard Scales of 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Question:

I have a 2024 ford f350 lariat dually 4x4 long bed, crew, 7.3 gas.. if I add air bags or stable load by torklift, will that mess up my on board scale this truck some with or my smart trailer, etc.?

Great question, Kevin.

The Onboard Scale system on your 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty works by essentially measuring how low the bed is sitting and it gives an estimated weight based off of that. If you added a suspension enhancement then that would prevent your truck from squatting as much and basically render the Onboard Scale as useless since it won't be able to accurately measure the squat.

With all of that being said, if you'll be hauling and/or towing heavier loads, then a suspension enhancement will be more valuable than the Onboard Scales as it would be providing you more stability and add to the longevity of your OEM suspension.

I really like the Firestone Airide Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs # F95FV for your application because it can help out with up to 7,500 lbs so you have a wide range of help you can add, and then you can lower the psi to 5 so that you only feel your OEM suspension.

If you want to get fancy you can add in the Firestone Air Command Heavy Duty Air Compressor # F96VV so you can monitor and adjust the air bags on the fly instead of having to stop and use an air pressure gauge to make sure the bags are at the right pressure for your application.

Great points, but, if I deflate the bags, wouldnt the scale work again since as you say that is oem suspension again??? Thoughts

@Kevin Yes, if you were to lower the bags to 5 psi it would allow you to then use the Onboard Scale as it would be more accurate. Good catch!

@JonG thank you again, so... now... with my 2024 F350 dually, 7.3 L gas, 4x4 crew cab long bed 48 gallon gas tank. trying to decide between a air bag kit Firestone vs Airlift, can you send me links to both including on board air, and your opinions on both. I have a lance 1062 camper and a tandem axle 7,000 boat, you have sold me recently all the stuff for torklift magnums and supertruss preps... but wanting to stiffen the ride a bit.. but dont want to lose my on board scale as we have discussed.

@KevinW Since you'll be putting your truck through the ringer I recommend getting an HD air bag kit rated for 7,500 lbs. The Air Lift kits won't fit with a dually so for the air bags you'll need the Firestone Airide Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs # F95FV. Then for a compressor kit I recommend the Air Lift WirelessONE Suspension System # AL77DQ because it comes with an EZ mount for the compressor and a tank so you have quick and easy access to air for more applications than just the air bags. The tank gives you the ability to fill tires and whatever equipment or toys you'll be taking on your trip as well.
