Bik Rack Recommendation for Lightweight Bike and Tool-Free Installation

Question:

I just bought the etrailer e98848 2 for my brand new 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport based on your recommendations - Thanks! I want to purchase a platform bike rack for the occasional once a week bike riding I do with my fairly lightweight hybrid bike. The Swagman XTC2 seems to fit the bill since it is lightweight and tilts back for hatch access. It also can carry a 2nd bike for those very rare occasions I need to do that. The only drawback I see is that a wrench is required to attach the rack. I know its not a big deal, but I still want to make this as easy as possible since I will be taking the rack off after each ride. What other brand/model is out there that would NOT require any tool to mount? Id like to understand the premium I would have to pay to have this feature and still not sacrifice weight and tilt back features. I see the Kuat Transfer V2 as a possible candidate, is that correct? Are there any others?

Thanks for reaching out, Mike - glad to hear you're happy with the etrailer hitch on your 2025 Honda CR-V!

The Swagman XTC2 TILT # S64671 is a great entry level bike rack for the reasons you referenced; it has some pretty solid features for a cost-effective bike rack, and weighs in at only 30 lbs.

The next best bike rack that uses a tool-free installation is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 # HR1450Z. This rack does weigh in at 54 lbs but you get the easy hitch pin system, it can carry up to 50 lb bikes (so you don't have to be picky about what that second bike is), and it comes with bike and rack locks included for some extra peace of mind if you have to make a stop with the bikes still loaded up.

I'm attaching a review video of each bike rack for you to check out!
