Comparing Thule T-Rac And TracRac For 2016 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

Good afternoon, I am comparing two Thule ladder racks for my 2016 Toyota Tacoma. Besides one being rated for 800 lbs and the other being 1000 lbs, are there any major differences I should be aware of? The 800 lb rated one appears to have some negative reviews about build-quality and durability. Was curious if the 1000 lb is a newer design. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. https://www.etrailer.com/Ladder-Racks/Toyota/Tacoma/2016/TH27000XT-XK4EX.html?VehicleID=201668282 https://www.etrailer.com/Ladder-Racks/Toyota/Tacoma/2016/TH37005XT-EX.html?VehicleID=201668814

Hello Henry, thanks for reaching out. Both of the ladder racks you mentioned, the Thule T-Rac Pro2 # TH37005XT-EX and the Thule TracRac TracONE # TH27000XT-XK4EX, are fits for your 2016 Toyota Tacoma. The racks are extremely similar but there are a few differences. The T-Rac is slightly shorter at 25-3/8" tall versus the TracRac being 26-1/4" tall. The T-Rac also has side cleats attached to the uprights for an additional tie down point. The TracRac does not have side cleats. Aside from that, the weight capacity is really the only noteworthy difference. If I had to pick between the two I would do the T-Rac just because of the higher capacity.
